Why it's a good idea
Doctors want you to follow their advice, and you can't do that without remembering it. Yet, scientific studies show that patients remember only 25 to 75% of their doctors's office as soon as they walk out the door. (Patients immediately forget 25 to 75% of what their doctors just told them!)
In testing Your Doctors Advice, we've found patients to be very adept at repeating back what the doctor has told them during the consultation. We believe that when patients know that they're going to use Your Doctors Advice, they seem to be listening to their doctor with the intent to repeat what they're hearing. It's quite remarkable how accurate patients are in that immediate recall.
Studies also show that patient satisfaction and patient adherence to the advice that their doctor gave them is highly dependent on the patient remembering the advice. (J R Soc Med 2009 June 1: 102(6): 235-243.)
